WEBSTER COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man has been sent to prison for sex abuse and incest.
On April 26-27, 2022, a bench trial was held in Webster County District Court where 41-year-old Duncombe resident was charged with multiple separate criminal counts alleging sexual abuse and incest. On May 13, 2022, a Webster County District Court Judge found Paul Peterson guilty of multiple felony sexual abuse and incest charges:
• Two counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3th Degree, a Class C Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section 709.4(1Xb)(3Xa);
• Four counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3th Degree, a Class C Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section 709.4(1Xa);
• Four counts of Incest, a Class D Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section 726.2;
• One count of Assault with Intent to Commit Sex Abuse, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, in violation of Iowa Code Section 709.11(3).
The State of Iowa was represented by Assistant Webster County Attorneys Bailey Taylor and Brad McIntyre.
“The State is extremely satisfied with the Court’s ruling,” the attorney’s office said. “Cases of this caliber are difficult for all involved. Law Enforcement worked diligently through this investigation. We hope that the favorable ruling will provide the victim with comfort and solace.”
Sentencing will take place at a later date.
