Mason City woman charged with animal neglect after deaths of 5 cats
MASON CITY – A Mason City woman has been charged with animal neglect after the deaths of 5 cats, police say.
On March 13, 2019 a search warrant was executed at 831 5th Street Southwest to check the welfare of several cats. The City of Mason City had received several complaints about cats that were not being properly cared for inside the residence.
During the search two dead cats and three cats that were alive were taken from the residence. The cats that were still alive were later euthanized because of health problems.
On April 17, 2019 Luella Duenow Scholl was charged with two counts of Animal Neglect. Animal Neglect is a serious misdemeanor which is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine up to $1875.00. Duenow Scholl was released to appear.
The Mason City Police Department was assisted by the Mason City Neighborhood Services Department.

city is afraid of Pat, after all she sued them once and got $68,000 of your tax money and she would do it again in a heart beat, no forget that she doesn’t have a beating heart. all the city has to do is look at her reports and look at the mileage on vehicle and it would be easy to see what she does

It’s just a few cats, get over it. Babies are killed every day and some of you don’t even bat an eye about that. Thanks!

So babies are more important than animals? Animals DO matter and we’re discussing an animal abuse case here, not the totally separate topic of abortion.

Be prepared all you foodies. Menu items will go up at the local Chineese restaurants now that their supply chain has been broken.

I wonder why animal control wasn’t called in to help. Oh yes, that would have required her to do some actual work.

Come on, give her a break, it’s pretty hard driving around in a truck all day.

You forgot talking on the phone and personal shopping. When was the last time you read where someone was charged for dog at large.
