MASON CITY – A sex offender now living in Mason City that shared illicit child photos to social media is accused of violating the state’s registry, and a suspended prison sentence looms large.
Iowa’s sex offender registry is used to track the whereabouts of convicts, once they are released back amongst society. Zackary Bodia Wagner, age 25 and now living in Mason City, was guilty of sexual exploitation of a minor last year. Police say he shared illicit child photos to social media, leading to his conviction. He had been sentenced to 5 years of probation as he avoided prison, and was ordered to appear on the registry.
Wagner was arrested on an arrest warrant on February 8 after a probation violation report and for violating the registry’s requirements. His charges are:
- 692A.104 – Sex Offender Registration Req Violation – 1st Off
-
908.11 – Violation Of Probation – 1985
Wagner is being held in the Cerro Gordo county jail on cash-only bond totaling $15,000. He faces a probation-revocation hearing on March 16, and his suspended 5-year prison term could be enforced.
