Mason City woman dials 911 with no emergency, sent back to jail

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman with a long, long record of dialing 911 and sending our emergency responders on wild goose chases pulled off her act against this weekend and was put in a jail cell.

Mason City police responded to a 911 call at 1606 North Hampshire Avenue on Friday night, April 28 at about 8:32 PM. As a result of the call when no emergency existed, police arrested 65-year-old Alma Melinda Shafer, who lives at that address. She was taken to jail on a charge of false report to law enforcement and soon released.

Back in December of 2016, Shafer served a 10-day jail sentence for violating her probation in a case in which she dialed 911 with no emergency. This particular case began on May 19, 2016, when she mis-used the 911 emergency service. She was given a suspended 10-day jail sentence, a year of probation and ordered to pay fines and fees of $197.75.

Safer has been dialing 911 with no emergency over the course of at least the past 10 years.

Shafer, Alma Melinda

NUNYA I assume that since your so anti-law enforcement that you have made a few trips to the pokey too.,

But the then Mayor Roger Bang did it ever single time he needed to talk to someone in the Sheriff office or MCPD. They verbal warned him Everytime not to use the 911 line but kept doing it and was never ever charged or media alerted. Two sets of rules in this town! The if you wear a badge or are elected you can do whatever the f*#k you want with no consequences. F*#king bu11sh!t

She used to do the same thing next door to me 20 years ago. Drunk and would threaten to blow up her house. Needs some serious help.

10 years?? more like 25

Your going to put up with her shit until she quits breathing. Take a chill pill lady and go to sleep.
