MASON CITY – One young lady pulled over for using the environment as her own personal trash can by an observant officer received probation for her crime, while another is sticking to her claim of innocence.
On the evening of Tuesday, June 7, around 5:46 PM, a Mason City police officer observed the occupants of a car discard a can and plastic debris from the vehicle while it was in motion near the 900 block of South Illinois. Officers stopped the car to investigate littering.
Two ladies inside the car, Katlin Marie Dravenstott and Allison Kay Teeter, both age 20 of Mason City, were cited for littering. The investigation also discovered a small amount of controlled substance (marijuana).
Both females were arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance. Dravenstott was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were taken to the county jail.
Apparently, Ms. Dravenstott was not happy about her arrest, and left this social media post after she was released from jail:

Dravenstott and her attorney filed a guilty plea on August 8. She was given a deferred judgement with probation and ordered to pay $1,540.00 in fines and court fees. She’s still in court on the possession of drug paraphernalia and littering charges.
Teeter, however, remains steadfast with her not-guilty plea. She is awaiting a pre-trial conference on September 26 and a jury trial set for October 11 in the drug possession case, while she faces a later non-jury trial in December on the littering charge.
