CHARLES CITY – A man who recently pleaded guilty to drunk driving was caught behind the wheel of a car illegally.
On the evening of March 8, 2016 at about 10:01 PM, a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Zachary Starkey was stopped by Charles City police. Starkey was arrested for driving while suspended. He awaits a trial in April.
Starkey was last arrested when Charles City police conducted a traffic stop just before 2 AM on May 3, 2015, near the intersection of Kelly and North Jackson Streets. After an investigation, officers arrested Starkey of Charles City for first offense operating while intoxicated, speeding, and no insurance. Starkey later pleaded guilty to the drunk driving charge and paid $2,401.88 in fines and court fees as well as jail time. The other charges were dismissed.
