Music legend Prince dead at age 57

His music was iconic of the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He sold millions upon millions of records.

It was reported that he had recently performed in the Twin Cities area and had complained of illness recently.

Prince’s biggest-selling album was Purple Rain. Released on June 25, 1984, over 20 million units worldwide were sold.

Prince was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis. He died April 21, 2016 in Paisley Park, Minnesota.

The StarTribune reported:

“Authorities were called to Paisley Park in Chanhassen shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday on a report of a “a male down not breathing” in an elevator. Responders administered CPR but could not revive him. Prince recently had been ill, but gave a concert at Paisley Park on Saturday.”
