MASON CITY – Mason City police have sent a public notice about the anticipated high turnout for tonight’s city council meeting, at which a proposed pork processing plant will be discussed.

Due to high attendance estimates for tonight’s City Council meeting at the Mason City Public Library, we are asking for attendees to please review the following information.

  • Doors will open for the meeting at 6:30 p.m. No signs or bags/backpacks of any kind will be allowed inside the Mason City Room. Those interested in attending may begin to line up at 6 p.m. starting at the west door and following the front of the Library building. See the white arrow in the attached photo.
  • A staging area has been established for large groups who plan to attend the meeting. In order to facilitate the smooth flow of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, large groups are asked to use this staging area as marked on the photo. This will help us to insure the safety of everyone in the area and to not disrupt normal operations for library staff or patrons.
  • Once the occupant load of the Mason City Room has been reached, as determined by Fire Code, attendees will be directed to the Commons area at the library. The meeting will be televised there and attendees will still have the opportunity to speak at the public forum.
  • We will have officers on-site to help manage traffic and to answer questions. Please follow their directions. We ask for your patience as you arrive and participate in the meeting.

There’s trouble in River City! That’s trouble with a capital “T” which rhymes with “P” and that stands for PIGS!

More dishonesty on display, the council should have told the citizens, they are wasting their time facts and their views do not matter, instead they are stringing them along with the “illusion” the citizens voice matters, please watch this video about the “impact” animal factories have had on North Carolina, https://youtu.be/A6QTfFUxSR8, Mason City and the surrounding towns this is your future, your property will be worth nothing, and the air will not be bearable to be outside, Revelation 3:9.

(Copied from whiners den, but interesting)

Looks like the Mayor and City Council do not want people to be able to watch any public comments this time on their streaming website of tonight’s meeting.

According to tonight’s (4/21/16)council meeting agenda:
“Citizen Comments: Citizen comments will not be televised and shall be called to order five minutes after adjournment of the regularly scheduled Council Meeting….”
It was “televised” & streamed last time, so WTF Mayor & Council, what are you afraid of?

Public Forum is at the beginning of the meeting and is being televised right now. During Public Forum citizens can speak on anything on the agenda except items that have a public hearing. If it’s a public hearing the public can speak during the hearing. The Citizen Comment allows the public to speak on anything. Because it violates Iowa’s Open Meetings laws, it is not a part of the official meeting and is not (and has never ) been televised.

We the tax payers care and its our tax money going down the drain for something we do not want — SO THERE ELETE .

I’m not for this hog plant. But it’s all ready a done deal. I’m not wasting my time. This city is doomed already why bother!

And that’s the problem, the city council and mayor count on people to give up/in. People not wanting to “waste their time and why bother” attitudes is what got these jokers into office and we the people are stuck with the decisions they make. Now is the time to make your voice be heard. I hope everyone remembers this the next time there is an election in this town. If you don’t vote don’t complain and if you don’t tell them how you feel don’t complain when it’s in your backyard.

These jokers were all ready voted in before the citizens voted. Bought and paid for! Come on people wake the hell up. It doesn’t matter what we say, or who we vote for. I can’t speak for most citizens but I’m sure it could be the reason No one bothers anymore. When you have a mayor who is not for his people you just as well stay home and suck it up buttercup! You’re frustrations should be directed to the people who did vote these jokers in.

This is ridiculous. Why go through all this security when this is all ready a done deal! Why waste your breath or time. Nothing will change their minds.

It”s to bad they can’t find that show where the Quality Pork in Austin is being sued for animal cruelty. That would make the meeting very interesting.

Who gives a rats ass. That is Austin and a completely different company. Has nothing to do with this.
