DENISON – An Iowa man narrowly avoided serious injury or death when a train collided with his vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report, Lonny Lee Kolin, 57, of Dow City, was in his 1998 Ford Explorer when it stalled on a set of railroad tracks near Denison on Highway 30, Iowa when the vehicle stalled.
A Union Pacific freight train was approaching and Kolin exited the vehicle, and the Explorer was struck on the driver’s side. Kolin was not injured.
