Fort Dodge shooting alerts police as suspect evades detection

FORT DODGE – A gun went off in a Fort Dodge neighborhood early Tuesday morning, and police raced to the area to sort out the mayhem.

Police in fort dodge say that on Tuesday, October 29th, at approximately 8:15 A.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of a single shot fired in the area of the 100 block S 17th St, in Fort Dodge.

Responding officers were advised that the suspect had left the area on a bicycle, but they were not able to locate anyone matching the description given. Officers arrived on scene and began speaking with the victim and a witness located in the area to determine what had happened as well as the exact location. Officers learned that the shot had actually been fired in the 100 block S 18th St. Officers canvassed the area for physical evidence and attempted to view any possible video surveillance in the vicinity.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

At this time the Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. Police encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything to contact the police department. With all investigations, any video evidence is essential to resolving an incident and anyone with video footage in the area should contact police.
