MASON CITY – A fundraising benefit will be held for a Mason City man who needs surgery.

The family of Thorin Flores says he was diagnosed with Ulcerative PanColitis at age 12. He has made “the tough decision” earlier this year at age 23 to get his large intestine completely removed. Thorin has completed two surgeries, they say, and has been in and out of the ER and suffering from psycological and emotional difficulties.

A benefit and fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 15 from noon to 5:00 pm at the Mason City VFW on South Monroe Avenue. The benefit will help Thorin cover the costs of his medical bills. His mother Diane, tell NIT that the costs could approach $250,000 and he has not been able to work since July.

Thorin’s family is asking for donations for the silent auction.  Please see the flyer below for contact information in order to make donations or help out.

In the meantime, his family is working on quilts, knitted projects, jams/jellies/salsas and other canned goods, paracord and fashion jewelry, candles, fall drink packs, and much much more.
