MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo County Treasurer Pat Wright announced this week she is tracking down unpaid property taxes in a coordinated effort with other officials.
On April 21, 2018, Cerro Gordo County Treasurer Pat Wright released her intentions of working with the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors as well as any affected City Councils on a plan to reduce delinquent taxes in the county.
As a follow-up to the progress of this project, August 16th was the last day to pay taxes on two of the 49 delinquent county-held tax sales.
- One owner paid their back taxes amounting to $20,370.
- One owner did not step forward to pay the back taxes within the 90-day legal notification time; therefore, the county deeded that parcel to the accepted bidder who can now take possession of the property.
Legal notices were given to many of the property owners during this process of assigning the tax sale certificates. Within the next few weeks, Treasurer Wright will be issuing Tax Sale Deeds on another 20 parcels unless the property owners come forward to pay the outstanding delinquent taxes.

The process I talked about in this release is from outstanding tax sales that were required by law to be issued to Cerro Gordo County as a result of not receiving any bids at prior tax sales. During the budget process I presented the Board of Supervisors a plan starting in July 2017, to pursue the legal process of calling in these outstanding taxes or assigning the tax sale through a sealed bid process. Coordinating legal counsel, notifying affected City Councils and updating the Board of Supervisors allowed me to first publicize this newly created process in April 2018. I will continue to update the public with results of either the taxes being paid or deeds being issued. I welcome you to visit me or call me direct with questions, 641-421-3033.
Pat Wright, Treasurer of Cerro Gordo County
GOOD JOB! It’s (your) actions like this that make me PROUD to have one of your signs in my front yard (in Plymouth)!!!!
How many tax deeds were issued to our worth county LLC supervisor who is good known to make large sums of money preying off the sheep.
So… Where is your link between Pat Wright (the CERRO GORDO County Treasurer) and WORTH County? Pretty obvious why you do not post using your REAL name.
Doing this now cause its election yr. Free campaign advertising
This is how it should be done. Finally, someone is doing it!
Should of been doing her job all the time ,not just b4 the election.Go after mall owner if she wants too make a name for herself. So was the $ ever paid back because of car registration done wrong?Time for new person in her cushy job.
I agree. And why didn’ they go back farther on the truck registrations?
Anonymous: OMG! I (and I’m pretty sure MANY others) shake their heads and/or fall on the floor, holding their stomachs as they roll around laughing at your adolescent-tinged posts!
Get the mall’s taxes!!
If she wants to impress anyone she’d better collect the taxes de on the mall!
She needs to go after the mall’s back taxes while she has the chance. She will not be able to after November.
She better go after the mall taxes first. Or is she afraid to.
Totally agree, The mall owner has the highest outstanding tax bill in Cerro Gordo county. It would only make sense to go after him first… Time will tell how they handle this!
Did the taxes on the money pit mall get paid?
And how about the present mall owner? All is forgiven because the mayor and “friends” are covering his ass?
Anyone with the word Treasurer in front of their name has got to be doing something right. Wonder if she’s married. lol
