As published in the Globe Gazette:
There are great things happening in Mason City, and there can be much more. What was once blighted can be beautiful. I would like to point out the former Kmart building here in town. It has sat vacant and decaying for years. Now, it is burgeoning into a beautiful new strip mall. WITH ZERO HELP FROM THE TAXPAYERS AND CITY HALL. An investor came to town, picked out a great location. They rolled up their sleeves and made an outstanding improvement. A highly-visible corner that was an eyesore is now a destination. Across the street is a gorgeous new hotel from Kinseth – the Hampton Inn. With more development coming. Let us partner with respected, “can-do” developers to make our city great again. Let’s ask more of ourselves as property owners. And let us work hard to be sure the new Renaissance Project is successfully implemented and the taxpayers are protected. Let’s make Mason Cityans feel welcome in Mason City.

Tax base is not there to support this project — CURE -raise taxes !
Matt you know Mason City is at a stand still when it comes to job growth – Mostly because of bad trade agreements made by corrupt former Elected officials. It will be another 10 years before we see real improvement and that’s only because we have a President who was an outsider (businessman) who was not politically corrupted by the Slime Pit called DC – but you can attach elected officals to corruption to most major US cities and they are in worse shape than Mason City -to date. Keep hauling in these welfare people and this town will grow into a little/Chitcago/Baltimore/Deadtroit. – Tread carefully in your town growing without the means to support them. Really don’t want to see that happen. Until the jobs come back from overseas were in limbo and being saved by (welfare) seems to be Washington’s cure or anyway a Demcrat vote getter – Never works! It’s like your high cost health insurance – hell you paying yours – public servants- illegals – people on welfare/title 19 – you can probable name more – but it’s a stacked deck upon the private sector working class to carry this load – Democrat corruption and voters let this happen to the private sector working class.
Love your newspaper. It seems to be founded on all the great newspapers of the past in both sensationalism and the true spirit of American competition. That was a wonderful read by the way.
Almost as good as reading the tabloids in the checkout line at walmart
Love them too! Came across a couple articles once that although was hard to believe they were true. I know because i was there. lol
What’s a newspaper?
Get er done Matt
