DES MOINES – High winds and dry conditions have created a virtual state of emergency in Iowa today, as officials are warning of extreme fire danger.
High winds, low humidity, and “surface fuels” such as dry grass, brush and branches have set in place conditions that could lead to fires. Winds will steadily increase Wednesday. Grasses remain nearly 100% cured. Any fires will spread rapidly and be very difficult to control.
Authorities warn to not burn anything under these current conditions.
