CLIVE, Iowa – A Mason City man has won a $10,000 lottery prize.

James Baker claimed the 18th of 32 prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery’s “$250,000 Club” instant-scratch game.

Baker claimed his prize Friday at the lottery’s regional office in Mason City. He purchased his winning ticket at Liquor Tobacco & Groceries, 18 N. Monroe Ave. in Mason City.

The $250,000 Club is a $20 scratch game. If a player matches any of “Your Numbers” to the “Club Numbers,” he/she wins a prize. If a player reveals a “Dollar Bill” symbol, he/she wins a prize automatically, and if a player reveals a “Money Bag” symbol, he/she wins triple the prize shown. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 2.88.

Five top prizes of $250,000 are still up for grabs in $250,000 Club, as well as 14 prizes of $10,000, and thousands of prizes between $100 and $1,000.

Since the lottery’s start in 1985, its players have won more than $3.3 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.5 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.
