MASON CITY – A woman calling the Beje Clark halfway house her home was caught shoplifting Monday at Shopko.
Dawn Ann Griffith, age 33, was arrested at Shopko after employees detained her and called police.
Griffith is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on no bond on a charge of aggravated misdemeanor third degree theft.
Griffith is a convicted felon, pleading guilty last year to felony D second degree theft and receiving a deferred judgement on a second, same charge. She was ordered to pay over $7,400 in fines and court fees and has managed to pay $0 on that balance so far, records show. She was also sent to Beje Clark for 999 days.

Look at her face. Is that tears of sorrow or tears that ol shit I got caught? Our system is so f**ked up that the common criminal knows they are only going to get their wrist slapped. Some days I wish I would of took the easy way out and lived off everyone of you tax paying good guys that worked and paid taxes for the dead beat POS.
It’s too bad when people get a break instead of prison and don’t take advantage of it to change their life’s or the better. She has obviously not learned from her mistake and now does not deserve a second chance. So sad.
