MASON CITY – Police responded to a frantic call Monday afternoon from a local motel after it was reported a man burst into the motel’s office.
According to reports, a man related to an employee at the America’s Best Value Inn motel, located at 24 5th Street SW, was angry and had stormed into the motel’s office, demanding a key to his room where he was said to be staying. The woman on duty, who seemed to be the target of the man’s ire, refused to make him a ket and dialed 911, prompting the arrival of two police.
When police arrived, they began to investigate, and the man had left the premises. A person at the scene, related to another employee who was there, said that the situation was an on-going dispute and the motel has wanted the man evicted for some time.
Police went to the second level of the west building to investigate the man’s room, and soon left the scene. No arrests were made at the time.
