WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) released the following statement today in response to the announcement that a preliminary agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran to temporarily freeze Iran’s nuclear program.
“This diplomatic breakthrough is exactly what it proclaims to be: a first step. Iran has been given an opportunity to show that it has negotiated with the international community in good faith and that further differences can be worked out through peaceful, diplomatic channels. While it helps allay fears of nuclear proliferation and paves the way for a more peaceful, stable Middle East; every commitment made by Iran must be upheld and independently verified.”
This deal was cut with a regime that entered into a nuclear non-proliferation agreement years ago – which they repeatedly violated because no one had the back bone to enforce it so now we have this new “agreement” that we’re just so sure they will live up to.
Just so no one forgets, this deal is with a country governed by a body of mullahs – the clergy of a religion that teaches it is ok to lie as long it is in furtherance of your objectives.
But then who am I to question our astute senator? I am sure he knows all the I’s are dotted & t’s are crossed so all will be good with these snakes.
If a republican would have brokered this deal it would have been the worse deal ever made. If you like your weapons of mass destruction, you can keep them.
This is really sad that Harkin had to come right out and tell the voters just what his ideology is. No wonder they have no respect for the American voters (or should I say sheep). One less progressive (not in a good way) in office. One down and only 525 to go. Now, it time for Grassley to release his death grasp and retire gracefully. Two terms are enough.

@Judy-you got it. Term Limits are the way to go. The problem is the crooks will never vote to limit their power base.
This deal was bull as you know it Tom Harkin, here you go again trying to spin a bad deal into a good one.
Just as we had them on their knees, and it was really starting to hurt them, we were the ones that gave.
Ask if our only Alley left in that region, Israel, thinks this is a good deal. They have already made statements against the US.
Obama want’s to divert attention from health care and Tom Harkin is taking part. This is a bad deal, Iran has stated over and over it want’s to wipe Israel off the map. Now we are slapping the face of our only alley in the region, Israel.
