Iowa State releases statement on theft of items from Hawkeye locker room during IOWA-ISU football game

AMES -The Iowa State Athletic Department released the following information in the wake of reported thefts from the visitors locker room during the IOWA-IOWA STATE football game held in Ames on Saturday:

“Upon learning that multiple items were taken from the Iowa football locker room Saturday night, Athletics Director Jamie Pollard visited personally with Iowa A.D. Gary Barta and Coach Kirk Ferentz to express his regret for the incident.

UI officials reported that nine victims suffered thefts of cell phones and/or approximately $50 in total. Additionally, no vandalism to the area was noted or reported. An investigation, conducted by ISU Police, is on-going. If the person(s) responsible are not identified, ISU Athletics will reimburse those who suffered losses.

It is an unfortunate situation, and unusual, in that the Jacobson Athletic Building has contracted security detail on site before, during and after games. The ISU Police and the athletics department responded quickly and thoroughly when alerted to the situation and have assured Iowa officials they are committed to seeking answers and improving security in this area.”

It is a shame that these kids study hard so the continue to play ball, and then when the game is going on, someone enters the locker room and steal items from them. I don’t care if they had $50 or a $1000 it is not right to steal from others. Both colleges are excellent places to further ones education. oops I went to UNI many years ago. I hope they find the person or persons responsible for this crime. Maybe beef up security from now on too so its not repeated

Vodka???? What about the thousands $$$ free college ride and perks that go along with PRO FOOTBALL?????? These kids had more than 50 dollars in the pocket/locker. I have to pay tuition for my kid..

they are not pro’s. Sorry your kid didn’t get a “full ride.”

Thank God they didn’t get the vodka.
