MASON CITY – A fundraiser for the Humane Society of North Iowa was held Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Mason City. Owner Michele Olson hosted the event.
“We wanted to host this event because we love animals and want to support the Humane Society of North Iowa,” said Olson. “We look forward to making this an annual event.”
With the cost of $10.00 a ticket, you received three games of “9 pin no-tap” bowling, shoe rental and prizes. The first fifty tickets sold also received a coupon for three free games of bowling on a future visit.
“Dana Foss is the event coordinator,” said Sybil Soukup, Executive Director of HSNI. “With Michele hosting and Dana coordinating, I get to sit and watch everyone enjoy bowling.”
Some bowling participants were a group of kids celebrating a birthday. Jackson Echelberger, age 5, was experiencing his first time bowling. “He’s getting some tips and pointers from his brothers, Shawn Echelberger and Alex Eilertson,” said mom, Wendy Eilertson. “He’s a little shy, but he’s having fun.” Jackson smiled and nodded.
