Mason City police were called to the scene of a property damage collision in the 600 block of 12th Street South East shortly before 8:30 pm Friday evening.
Witnesses at the scene claim 19 year old Antonio Eric Cabrera of Mason City was traveling at a high rate of speed in the residential neighborhood before losing control of his vehicle and slamming into a truck, pushing it into another vehicle.
Witnesses also stated two passengers in Cabrera’s vehicle left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Law enforcement arrested Cabrera at the scene of the accident and transported him to Cerro Gordo County jail. Cabrera was charged with 1st offense OWI, no insurance, and failure to maintain control.
Cabrera has since been released from the Cerro Gordo County jail pending further court proceedings.
