CLEAR LAKE – A Clear Lake man has found justice to the tune of a long prison sentence after committing heinous crimes near a school.
Clear Lake police charged 34-year-old Christian Vorland of numerous charges back in July of 2023. Among the charges brought against him:
– 709.4(1)(b)(3)(a) – Sex Abuse 3rd — Victim 14/15, 1st Offense

– 124.406(1)(a) – Distribution To Person Under Age 18 – Distribution of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance to Person Under Age 18
– 124.406(1)(a) – Distribution To Person Under Age 18 – Distribution of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance to Person Under Age 18
– 725.2(2) – Pimping — Solicited Patron for Person Under 18
– 709.4(1)(b)(3)(a) – Sex Abuse 3rd — Vict 14/15, Household Me, 1st Off
– 708.2(2) – Assault Causing Bodily Injury
Volrand (pictured at top) allegedly committed his crimes within 1000 feet of a Clear Lake school. He has been held in the Cerro Gordo county jail awaiting trial since his arrest last summer. After a plea deal this week, Vorland was will serve consecutive prison sentences totaling 80 years and must register as a sex offender.
