A look back at Alice Through the Looking Glass …

by Joe Buttweiler

MASON CITY – If you missed the chance to see Alice Through the Looking Glass at Stebens Children’s Theatre — or even if you didn’t — here’s a chance to look (back) at some memorable scenes from the performance.

The cast of nearly 40 children performed Tuesday through Sunday to mostly full houses. An extra show was added Saturday due to high demand.

The colorful and sometimes backwards-first play directed by Tom Ballmer, executive director of Steben’s Children’s Theatre, told the story of Alice’s whimsical journey through wonderland after going through the looking glass.

Alice, played by Amelia Ouverson, encountered talking flowers, a unicorn, poetry recitals and a wild variety of action and royal advice during her quest to become a queen — all after falling asleep while playing chess with her kitten.

Enjoy the look (back) at the action. Proceed to the next square …
