MASON CITY – A man who along with two others who had a baby in a stroller and ran from police earlier this week was apprehended by police this morning.
According to police, Matthew Ray Ward, 26, was observed by Mason City police sitting in Central Park with another person at about 4:10 AM Thursday morning. He was caught and arrested without incident.
Ward was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on an assault causing serious injury charge. Ward is now in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, held on $1,000 cash-only bond.
Ward escaped police on July 8th when a Mason City police officer observed three subjects pushing an infant in a baby stroller in the 000 block of South Carolina Avenue. The officer suspected one of the males to be Matt Ward, who was wanted by authorities. The other two subjects were Brandon Ward, 29, and Tyler Meuer, 23; they were both caught and arrested after hiding in nearby apartments.
The baby was unharmed during the chase, police said.
So sad to see any of these sire a child. It goes on and on and on and on.
A perfect candidate for Sheriff Joe to babysit.
