Police: O’Gorman allegedly fired a firearm towards his victim

MASON CITY – Mason City police were able to elaborate somewhat on the arrest earlier this week of Mark O’Gorman.

Police indicated that they received the assault report July 7th from O’Gorman’s alleged female victim. Police raided O’Gorman’s house at 308 21st Street SE that evening at around 11 PM.

“None of her injuries were life-threatening,” police said.

Police described the alleged assault against the woman, who is unidentified but is said to be from Worth County.

“Besides O’Gorman allegedly firing a firearm towards her, she alleges he uses his hands to physically assault her,” police said.

In addition to assaulting the woman, O’Gorman was charged with false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor. From the timelime provided by police, the woman may have been held at least three days against her will.

“As far as how long she (the victim) was confined against her will or when the shots were fired, the criminal complaints list July 4th around 5:30 pm as the approximate date and time of the false imprisonment, intimidation with dangerous weapon, and serious assault,” police said.

The charges against O’Gorman now include:

ASSAULT/SERIOUS
POSSESSION OF EXPLOSIVE DEVICE
POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE W/INTENT TO DELIVER
POSSESSION OF EXPLOSIVE DEVICE
POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
