NORTHWOOD — The Worth County Board of Supervisors approved a new facility maintenance coordinator, appointed a deputy treasurer, entered a five-year auditing agreement and authorized $732,894.88 in county claims during its meeting on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Supervisors Enos Loberg, Mark Smeby and A.J. Stone were present. Loberg called the meeting to order, and all recorded motions were approved unanimously.

The board approved payroll eligibility verification for Steven Butler as Worth County’s facility maintenance coordinator.

Butler will receive an annual salary of $60,000 beginning August 17, 2026.

Supervisors also adopted Resolution 2026-25, approving County Treasurer Jake Hanson’s appointment of Missy Dagestad as a deputy Worth County treasurer.

The resolution states Dagestad is qualified for the position and that her appointment will not exceed the number of deputies authorized for the treasurer’s office.

The appointment follows earlier board action involving staffing in the treasurer’s office. In June, supervisors approved payroll eligibility for Dagestad at an annual salary of $45,508.

At the July 27 meeting, the board approved Callie Flattum’s appointment as first deputy treasurer while also accepting County Recorder Teresa Olson’s resignation.

Supervisors approved an agreement with Gardiner + Company PC to conduct Worth County’s annual audits for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2027, through June 30, 2031.

The board also approved the sheriff’s monthly report.

Claims approved during the meeting totaled $732,894.88.

The largest payment was $187,287.09 to Veenstra & Kimm Inc. for capital-project service. Other major claims included $171,656.64 to BMC Aggregates and $147,325.30 to Falkstone LLC for rock used by the county engineer.

The county also approved $34,913.35 to Freeborn County Coop Oil for engineer fuel, $20,820.85 to S&H Environmental Services for water and wastewater service, $20,175 to Iowa Prison Industries for 911 supplies and $20,000 to Central Tank Coatings for water service.

The meeting adjourned at 9:03 a.m.
