LUBBOCK, Texas – NIACC sophomore Emily Burchett placed seventh in the weight throw at the NJCAA national indoor track and field meet Saturday.
Burchett earned her seventh-place finish with a toss of 49 feet, 11 1/2 inches.
For the NIACC men Saturday, sophomore Trey Taylor placed ninth in the weight throw at the NJCAA national indoor meet on Saturday with a toss of 52-1 3/4.
The Trojans’ 4×800-meter relay team was 11th in 8 minutes, 19.34 seconds. The Trojans ran Alex Lugo, OJ Ojullu, Matt Bowman and Nako Omot.
The Trojans’ 4×400 relay team was 14th in a school-record time of 3:20.05. The Trojans ran Paul Pokana, Lugo, Omot and Brock Schultz.
The old 4×400 school record was 3:24.15 at the Region XI meet on Feb. 16 set by the same foursome.
sophomore Jonny Worley was 18th in the mile in a time of 4:33.75.
The Trojans placed 23rd at the national meet with seven points.
The NIACC men and women open the outdoor season on March 23 at the Grand View Relays in Des Moines.
