Op-ed: Health care system a sieve of untold misery (by Peter Children)

Health Care System; this is an area that defies description.  It is unbelievably huge, billions of dollars flow through this sieve of untold misery. From the hospital front door to the rear door of a nursing home…where you’re unloaded after you die…never out the front door.  From the rear door to the funeral home where the final checks are written to cover that ride through life that you took.

From life saving surgeons to the people who mop and vacuum the floors and otherwise make up the staff that one way or another benefit from that broken arm or that sore on your knee that appeared one day.  The massive drug companies that fill the prescriptions the doctor writes to the insurance salesman who sold you a policy to help keep you from bankruptcy as you try to stay alive.  All of this great machinery is fueled by medical misfortune…real or imaginary.

In more ways than not, from birth you are mortgaged to the health care system. These tentacles easily reach into every home on every block in every city, in every state in this country.  So what is the answer?  Like everyone else I have my idea and you have yours; my personal thought is that from the git go costs are out of control.  They are ridiculous and totally out of control….and they are controlled by the insurance companies who sold you the policies needed to stay solvent. It is these same companies that decide how long they will pay for your sty in the hospital as it relates to each illness.  For pneumonia you get four days. Impossible to cure in that amount of time.  After four days the hospital sends you home because the room and what goes with it is no longer covered by insurance.

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lings caused by bacteria.  It is very hard to expel and certainly takes much longer than the time allotted.  If you are “old” your chance of death is very high, in effect you suffocate or drown in your own phlegm. It is often referred to as “the old person’s friend.”  When you are old you don’t have the strength to fight this infection in a short time.  When the coverage stops a quick exit is looked for by the hospital….goodby and good luck is their wish for you as you are wheeled outside in a wheelchair.

In short big insurance is telling the doctors what they will pay for and what they will not pay for. So if you’re thinking of getting sick make certain it is something that is on the right list.

It cost about $135.00 a day to share a room with a stranger in most nursing homes. Any indignation that might come with it is free.  That adds up to 48K a year, you can pay or the state can pay, these facilities are equal opportunity receivers when it comes to payment.  It’s all a part of the health care system, a system that infects you at an early age , then like a incurable infection, it stays with you through your entire life.

I believe we as a people can collectively change it by voting our wishes. If the politician won’t give us what we want, then vote them out.  Why is it so difficult to come together to make changes that will benefit everyone? People seem to forget that the ballot box controls what happens in a demrocery, and we as citizens own every box….or did you forget that?

Once again I agree with you Peter. This is getting to be a habit. I wouldn’t worry to much about the idiot’s who proof read your article trying to find some little issue to put you down. The important thing is if we can understand the meaning of the article and I can certainly do that. As a licensed insurance provider I have some insider information on how they work and I can assure you the welfare of the people is last on their list. Most of the doctors and nurses are professional caring people but some are in it just for how much money they can suck out of the system. If you want to see a real scam you should look at Medicare Providers where they charge 10 or 20 times what the product is worth and then people bitch that it costs to much. What a farce the health care system is but it is still so much better than Canada’s or Mexico’.

demrocery? Is that like a Demonic Grocery store?

Put spellchecker on your computer, then use it!

The word “Anonymouse” — is this like ignorant prick looking for a gnat on someone’s ass or just like the meaning of “prick” – worthless asshole?

LMAO!!!
