The much-publicized Facebook group Fed^ North Iowa is making changes today.
One major change is a switch from a “group” to a “page” using the Facebook platform. “We are switching over to an actual page setting from the group setting, to minimize drama and keep the focus on our objectives.” The “group” has over 5,000 people who belong, most of which were added by default. The organization’s new “page” so far has 39 “likes” and people will need to go to the page and “click like” for that number to grow.
On their new page, now called “Fed Up North Iowa,” the administrators have made clarifications and outlined other goals, including a mission statement, vision statement and core values. “Please Check out the about section,” the page says. “We have written our statements, goals, and core values.”
The goals they list are:
1. Help underprivileged children (reduced/free pool passes and other organized activities)
2. Provide tools and resources to organize and assist those in need. (help organize and advertise fundraisers and benefits)
3. Raise organizational awareness for area non-profit organizations
4. Create a neighborhood watch program to reduce crime and raise awareness.
5. Open a youth recreation center to increase wellness, education, and a safe environment to reduce crime rates.
6. Develop a big brother/big sister program for Wright County, which currently has none.
7. Create area jobs by developing a recreation center for adults/children/families and boost local economy.

I love how I have lost new friends cause of a persons lies. They knew they were caught now they are lying even more to cover up their old lies that they told. This person commented on my story then lied about it. They said they were never on this page but when the truth is we never told the person what page or even what website the comments were made on about me and my ex.
If they truly were your friends. you would not have lost them. I wouldn’t let it get me down. Just keep your head held high and live your life. the more you dwell on it. the more these losers win. 🙂
I know exactly who you are talking about and your all drama. All you do is post everywhere things like OMG did you know I am a welfare mom because I get disability? She may not want the drama but i will tell you straight up YOU ARE DRAMA. You had a garbage article written up about what is and is not true about your life and all the comments are people bashing on you and YOU WONDER WHY!!! Seriously and why are you on here in the first place get your kids back and be a good mom. That should be your priority!

Number 4 – There is already a neighborhood watch ran in co-operation with the local police department.
Number 5 – There are already numerous youth recreations centers, and park and recreation departments in each city. All offer reduced rates and scholarships for low income families.
Number 7 – See number 4, YMCA, Parks and Rec, NICAA.
There have been 4 fundraisers in North Iowa since Sunday non have been mentioned by their group.
Lastly there is a citizens police training put on in partnership with Cerro Gordo County Sheriff. Although the disclaimer of no felony convictions ever or minor convictions in the last 4 years might bar some of their associates.
If people truly want to clean up North Iowa they can volunteer time with an all ready established charity or association with a positive track record.
I have seen not one item they have addressed except idea’s they could do but haven’t. It is your choice to invest in one of the many already established government recognized charity’s in your area. Or contribute to somebody who says they are changing, but were part of the problem not to long ago.
Never will you see the leaders of the Salvation Army, Northern Lights, ect. giving should outs to fellow smokers on 4/20.
Since you like lists, here’s another one.
#1 The group is about NORTH IOWA, NOT JUST MASON CITY. One of the founders, Tara Mickelson is from BELMOND. Belmond does not have a neighborhood watch program, recreation program for underprivileged children, or a recreation center for the youth.
#2 The group has just gotten started and you know as well as everyone else, goals take time to accomplish. They cannot be accomplished overnight. Do you think the founders of United Way or Humane Society got all of their goals accomplished within a few week’s time? I’m betting not.
#3 They are putting way more time into establishing this group than just volunteering for another one. They are doing the time consuming work of making phone calls, meeting with various people, and establishing the meaning of the group and what they stand for so that people understand what their group is about.
#4 We all make mistakes and have done things in our past that we aren’t proud of. You can’t deny the fact these girls are trying to make up for it by helping people. If everyone hating on this group would put that much effort into helping another group they DO support, maybe there wouldn’t be anything to change in the first place.
I think that everyone has heard enough about this stupid Fed ^ North Iowa stuff. I for one am tired of everytime I go on this site, that’s what is here, more nonsense about this stupid site. C’mon Matt, we’ve heard enough. Time to move on.
Here’s a suggestion: Don’t click the link. There’s plenty of other stories here. By the way, the Globe made this a story by publicizing it in the first place. Much more was accomplished once NIT got involved.
