Don’t miss Clear Lake’s Kite Fest

CLEAR LAKE – The 11th annual “Color the Wind” Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012.

According to the website for the event, “As always, there will be an exciting variety of huge show kites, ground displays and demonstrations of choregraphed kite ballet! Weather permitting, the show will start at 11 AM at the downtown seawall, on the frozen lake in Clear Lake, Iowa and will continue until 4 pm.”

The website says the event is “go” despite warm temps that have made ice thinner than usual at the lake.

“Update, February,17th: It’s a “GO”! The ice is more than 12″ thick and the weather forecast is for a sunny day with temps in the 30’s ! It should be a beautiful day for the kite festival! If the wind is right, we should have lots of kites in the air by 11 am. We want everyone to join us out on the the flying field; just be aware that our snow cover has melted and it could be very slippery underfoot.”
