The druggies need to be charged with FEDERAL crimes in order for the charges to stick. If they get charged in District Court, the worst charges just get bargained away and Judge Weiland just slaps them on the wrists. I hope the drug task force starts charging more druggies with FEDERAL crimes instead of working with the locals. You saw what happened to that guy from 2 years ago from whom the DCI did controlled buys within 1000′ of a school. Weiland threw out all the charges except THREE, if I remember correctly. All that work down the drain! I’m betting the drug task force won’t risk having that happen any more. This Eckholt yahoo got arrested for a no contact violation and the meth charge was incidental to that. Too bad because he won’t get what he deserves. I, for one, would be willing to pay more state income tax or more sales tax to fund more prisons in this state for drug dealers and other criminals. I want them gone from our streets and I don’t want them moving to a state with lax laws. I want to send them a message that if you come here and deal drugs, you’ll go to prison.
WORTHLESS JUDGES

@Katie…I agree with you a 100% percent. I am so sick and tired of reading about these criminals getting of free by JUDGE WEILAND. Something has got to change. This city’s repuation turns away good people, but the criminals love it. They know that the judges will do nothing to them.
I only hope that the poor judicial decisions these judges make, cost them to not be re-elected!

Charge all sex offenders federally as well.

I could be mistaken on this, but wasn’t this guy and his spouse/girlfriend the recipients of a Habitat For Humanity home several years ago? If that IS correct, talk about unappreciative (at least on his part).
What I’m not mistaken about is the fact that I remember this dude from 20-25 years ago when I worked at a local C-store. The trouble he’s in now comes as no surprise.

WORTHLESS JUDGES

Good research. That is really troublesome to know that a worthwhile cause has supported someone that is a druggie. I feel bad for his kids. I hope they are able to keep themselves out of this loser lifestyle.

Remember back in the day, when you’re dad caught you smoking, so he’d buy a carton and make you smoke the whole thing, And then you never touched them again?
They should make this guy smoke an entire trunk full of meth and see how he likes it, if he doesn’t fall over dead…
Sick of drug problem

Seems almost every day someone’s getting busted with meth. Why don’t the drug task force do everyone a favor and go blow it up and send the people running it to the slammer? Oh I know, because they’ll just get a suspended sentence or deffered judgement.

Actually, he has been getting away with this type of behavior for a very long time. He has been using and selling for over a decade. The thing that I am astonished at is the fact he is just now being punished.

He hasn’t been “punished” yet, and maybe never will be…. considering the latest drug sentences that have been handed down.

When you work for the police you can get away with anything. Just ask some of the rapists and other drug dealers in this town who have a license to do what they want in our community.

And why is anyone surprised that a drug dealer for years has not stopped?? Why should he?? What are the judges in Mason City going to do?? Suspend all of his charges? There is no incentive in this town to stop any type of criminal behavior. Like I said, our judges are WORTHLESS!

Time For A Change

This Eckholt has no respect for the law.
Judge says to have “no contact” and he does it anyway. The fellow is lazy and sells drugs to make easy money rather than work for a living like the rest of us.
There does not seem to be any deterrent for these kinds of knuckle draggers.
I’m thinking that making them ORGAN DONOR is the best punishment for these lazy repeat offenders.
Less expense on the system and you create worth out of the worthless.
Who knows? It might even act as a deterrent.

I like your idea. I think it would be a great deterrent.

Do you really think there going to give a person a organ from a meth head? That would be like getting a lung from a 3 pack a day smoker.
