Mark attended Mason City Schools and graduated in 1999 from Mason City High School, where he was active on the basketball team and loved playing basketball in his younger years. He worked for Lehigh Cement Company as a Lab Technician for several years, and Masonite for the past few years.

His other hobbies included listening to Christian music, taking a nice long nap and cooking up delicious food on the grill. He had a very unique sense of humor but always tried to make others smile and laugh. He was a loyal friend to all, and was the most-warm and lit up every room he entered.
