Two Mason City teens hurt in single-vehicle accident Sunday night

RURAL MASON CITY – Two teens were treated for injuries after a single-vehicle accident Sunday night in rural Mason City.

On Sunday, January 2, 2022, at approximately 11:46 PM, the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office responded to 250th Street and Spruce Avenue for a single vehicle collision. The driver, 17-year-old Dominic Meyer of of Mason City, was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion west on 250th Street when it went off the roadway at the T-Intersection, entering the west ditch. The vehicle struck a ground cable to an electrical pole. The driver was treated for possible injuries. The passenger, 17-year-old Corey Askildson of Mason City, was treated for possible injuries. Both occupants were not transported.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department.
