July 27, 1937 – May 16, 2025
Robert “Bob” Duncomb was born on July 27, 1937, to Ralph and Edith Duncomb in Mitchell, Iowa. He grew up in Mitchell, where he graduated from Mitchell High School. As a young man, Bob loved playing baseball and basketball and spent many hours helping on the family farm—laying the foundation for the hardworking and devoted man he would become.
After high school, Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army as a paratrooper. Upon completing his service, he returned to Iowa, settling in St. Ansgar, where he met and married Gladys Tapp. Together, they had two sons, Paul and Scott.
Bob later moved to Estherville, Iowa, where he married Barbara Hutzill and welcomed two more sons, Robert Jr. and David. In 1982, Bob met the love of his life, Deloris Jenkins, and they were married shortly thereafter. In 1986, Bob and Deloris relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he worked for the Department of Highways. He enjoyed the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, and the active lifestyle Colorado offered.
After retiring, Bob and Deloris moved to Sun City, Arizona, where they built a life filled with sunshine, good friends, and time spent with family. Bob was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and later, relaxing poolside and competing in bocce ball. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved friends and neighbors.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Edith; his brothers, Richard and Kenneth; and his sisters, Grace Nelson, Marrietta Steward, and Janet Ericson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deloris of Sun City, AZ; his brother, Lawrence Duncomb of St. Ansgar, IA; his children: Paul (Terry) Duncomb of Rochester, MN; Scott (Kim) Duncomb of Austin, MN; Robert (Tamy) Duncomb of Green Valley, AZ; David Duncomb of Parker, CO; Lonnie Jenkins of Boulder, CO; and John (Tracey) Jenkins of Sioux Falls, SD. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory and legacy.
Bob lived a full life, defined by love, laughter, service, and strength.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
