Lois M. Kocher, 81, of Hawkeye, died Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, at Cedar Crest Apartments in West Union, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Lois’ name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye, Hawkeye Legion Post #312, American Legion Auxiliary, or Gundersen Hospice.

Lois was born November 27, 1943, to William and Goldie Suhr. She attended country school and graduated from North High in West Union. She was united in marriage to James J. (Jake) Kocher on September 25, 1964. After her marriage, she followed Jake to Washington, DC, where Jake had just joined the Department of State, Foreign Service. After a tour in Washington, it was on to Bonn, Germany, then to Tunisia, Zaire, South Africa, Ireland, Belgium, Washington DC, Switzerland, New Mexico, and finally back home to Hawkeye. Four sons were born out of this union: Rollin in Virginia, Robert in Germany, Russell in Spain, and Rory in Ireland.

Lois was preceded in death by two sons, Rory and Russell; parents, William and Goldie Suhr; brothers William, Marvin, Robert, and Jerry; twin brother Louie; and sisters Judy Hoyt and Goldie Platte. She is survived by her husband Jake, her two sons Rollin (Patty) and Robert (Mindy); brothers Henry, Aelvin, and Melvin; sisters Anna Ungerer and Marlene Bradley; three grandsons; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
