Richard Eugene Williamson, son of Eugene and Peanuts (Mason) Williamson, was born May 25, 1954 in Spencer, Iowa. Rich grew up and received his education in Ruthven, graduating from Ruthven High School in 1972.
On August 12, 1983 Rich was united in marriage to Julie Conlon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. They were blessed with four children.
As a young adult Rich did construction work in the area and then began a career in trucking. He was employed with Heiter Trucking in Spencer for several years and then went on to work for Morton Building where he completed twenty four years of employment before retiring. After his retirement Rich enjoyed working with Mike Brown during harvests.
Rich was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven.
He looked forward to going to dirt track races each summer, traveling throughout Iowa and Minnesota to attend the races. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching their sporting events with Julie. The biggest highlight in Rich’s life was spending time with his six grandchildren.
Rich passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home in Ruthven, Iowa, at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Peanuts Williamson; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Dave Severson; and a brother, Ron Williamson.
He is survived by his wife, Julie of Ruthven, Iowa; his children, Laci and Chris Stasi of Indianola, Iowa, Nicole Williamson and Kyle Peterson of Milford, Iowa; Zach and Ashley Williamson of Ruthven, Iowa and Bryce Williamson of Roberts, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Hudson, Hazel, Grayson, Javin, Brody and Sylvie; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dar Hansen of Ruthven, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
