Danny Hanna, age 73, of McAllen, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from complications due to liver cancer.
Originally from Woden, IA, Dan was the son of Vance and Evelyn Hanna. He graduated from Woden-Crystal Lake High School in 1969, where he excelled in athletics and was honored as an All-State Conference football player. His talent earned him a football scholarship to Iowa State University, and he later transferred to Mankato State College, where he earned a degree in Communications.
Dan began his career at Winnebago Industries, working in various roles, including in the plant, as a delivery driver, and ultimately as a District Sales Manager. During his time there, he met the love of his life, Sheryl, while both were working in the sales department.
The couple later moved to Concord, CA, where they continued working in the RV industry at a Winnebago dealership. In 1997, they relocated to Colorado Springs, CO, where Dan transitioned to a successful career in real estate with Coldwell Banker Realty.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sheryl Hanna, of McAllen, TX; his son, Derek Hanna (Ginger) and grandson, Chase of Salem, WI; his daughter, Kerri Kramer (Rob) and granddaughter, Ella of Colorado Springs, CO; and his daughter, Kelli Crist (Ralph) of Elsmere, KY, along with grandchildren, Jimmie Crist (Emily) of Batavia, OH; Brandon Crist (Lauren) of Hurricane, WV; and Paityn Lyle (Corey) of Morning View, KY, as well as great-grandchildren, Elena Crist and Liam Collins.
He is also survived by his sister, Julie Krebsbach (Jerry) of Lake City, MN, and his brother, Brad Hanna (Susan) of Concord, CA. Dan cherished the close bonds he shared with his extended family, including his aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance Hanna and Evelyn Budlong; his grandparents Nick and Henrietta Monson and Sylvan (Sid) and Helene Hanna; and his beloved granddaughter Haley McGee.
Dan will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast dedication to his family, and the happiness he brought to everyone around him. His spirit of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 5, 2025, at the Woden, IA Community Center at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local humane society, as Dan had a great love for animals.
