Kim Reynolds
DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds unveiled her sweeping tax reform proposal on Tuesday. The plan would provide immediate relief to middle class workers, small business owners, farmers, families and teachers across Iowa. Leaders around the state are reacting to the news; here’s what they’re saying:

“Governor Reynolds’ tax reform proposal delivers immediate and meaningful relief to middle class Iowans. We appreciate that her plan leaves more money in the pockets of hard-working Iowans while also including safeguards that protect the sustainability of the budget.

House Republicans are ready to work with Governor Reynolds to reform Iowa’s outdated and complex tax code. We look forward to making it simpler, fairer, and more competitive for all Iowans.”
—Speaker Linda Upmeyer (R-Clear Lake)

“We’re really encouraged by what we’ve seen so far, and this is a great first step. Taxes are a big concern for small businesses. We’re looking forward to working with the administration and legislative leaders to pass tax reform that allows entrepreneurs to keep more of the money they earn so they can reinvest it and grow their businesses and create jobs.”
—National Federation of Independent Business State Director Matt Everson

“We agree with many of the Governor’s stated objectives and believe this plan would improve several aspects of the Iowa tax code. We look forward to digging into the details, especially surrounding federal deductibility, talking with our members, and working with the Governor, Lt. Governor, and legislators to deliver tax relief for all Iowans.”
—Iowans For Tax Relief President Chris Ingstad

“Pleased to see Governor @KimReynoldsIA is advancing the discussion on #Iowa #TaxReform in legislation. This is a big step forward in the right direction. We will continue to work with the Governor and legislators to improve Iowa’s business tax rates.”
—Iowa Taxpayers Association

“This is a great starting point. I applaud the governor and her staff for coming out with a fantastic bill.”
—Sen. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull)

“No doubt about it, it’s gonna put more money in every Iowan’s pocket, and I think that’s really important.”
—Sen. Brad Zaun (R-Urbandale)
