DES MOINES – An Iowa man tragically lost his life early Saturday morning when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding collided with a Toyota Corolla in a Des Moines intersection.
Police say the accident took place Saturday morning, March 30, 2024 in Des Moines. At 12:24 AM, police and other emergency responders were called to the intersection of E. 13th Street and E. Grand Avenue to investigate a crash with injury. First responders arrived to find a passenger car and a motorcycle that had collided within the intersection. The motorcyclist, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
There were no other persons injured.
Later Saturday, police disclosed that crash victim who died in this incident has been identified as 22-year-old Des Moines resident Spencer Rush. Police say that Rush was driving a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on E. Grand Avenue when it collided with a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The name of the driver of that vehicle was not released.
This is Des Moines’ third traffic-related fatality crash of 2024, the second of which involving a motorcycle.
