AMES – A convenience store in Ames was robbed by armed intruders Monday.

At approximately 12:05 A.M. on Monday, March 28, officers with the Ames police department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Kum and Go located at 4506 Lincoln Way. The suspect was described to officers by the clerk as a black male, wearing a black puffy winter coat. The male was also wearing a rubber glove on one hand and bags over his shoes.

The male pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the registers. The clerk gave the suspect cash from the register and the male left the store with another male who was waiting outside. Both individuals got into a sedan style vehicle that was operated by a third person and fled the area southbound.

The Ames Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
