Uknown driver rear-ends Charles City man’s classic Chevy causing thousands in damages, then flees scene

CHARLES CITY – An uknown driver rear-ended a Charles City man’s classic Chevy Tuesday night, causing thousands in damages, then the culprit fled the scene.

The incident took place on Tuesday, September 15 at about 8:00 PM. Officers with the Charles City police department went to the 1200 block of Cleveland Avenue to investigate a two-car collision. Police say two cars collided at the intersection of Triumph Avenue and Highway 18. Dennis Tynan, age 63 of Charles City, was driving a 1950 Chevy when he was struck from behind. The other driver stopped, allegedly, and then fled the scene without identifying themselves. The collision caused about $4,000.00 of damage to the Chevy.

No injuries were reported.
