Texter totals car, lucky to walk away alive

ROWLEY, IA – An Iowa woman has been cited for texting while driving after putting her car in the ditch and totaling it.

On August 28, 2014 at approximately 7:55 PM, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident southwest of Rowley, Iowa. According to the investigation, a 2003 Honda Civic operated by Megan Rae Fauver of North liberty was traveling north on Jamestown Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the west ditch, rolled and came to rest on its wheels.

Fauver was assisted out of the vehicle by Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies and transported to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence by Area Ambulance with unspecified injuries. The vehicle was considered a total loss. Fauver is being issued citations for Driving While License Suspended, Texting Law Violation and Failure to Maintain Control. The accident remains under investigation and further charges are pending.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Rowley Fire Department and Area Ambulance Service.
