ALGONA – An Algona woman has been honored as the Kossuth county sheriff’s “citizen of the month” for November 2021.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office is honored to recognize Sandy Reefer of Algona as the November 2021 “1440 Citizen of the Month”. Sandy was nominated by several people who all commented on her positive and kind attitude toward others. “Every time we see her, she is always smiling and in the middle of some good deed” was one of the comments written on her nomination form.
Sandy has been a long-time volunteer for the Kossuth County CARE Team and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP). She also has been a pen pal for youth in area schools for years. Sandy is known for sharing her large garden and loves cooking.
The past few years, with the covid pandemic and the extra efforts put forth by first responders, Sandy Reefer took it upon herself to bring baked goods to the Law Enforcement Center every day. She shows up with plates of goodies for the officers and staff at both the Sheriff’s Office and the Algona Police Department.
“Sandy Reefer is an excellent example of the many great citizens we have in Kossuth County”, commented Sheriff Fisher. “Her dedication to helping others and volunteering her time and talents are a few of the reasons she is our November 1440 Citizen of the Month!”
The sheriff’s office thanked the award sponsors: HyVee and Casey’s of Algona, Kossuth County Advance, Hometown Radio KLGA, The Bancroft Register, and the Swea City Herald-Press.
