MASON CITY – A C-SPAN bus stopped in downtown Mason City Saturday morning.
The stop was planned in coordination with Mediacom to promote viewership of the C-SPAN channel.
Alex from Mediacom greeted a strong crowd of citizens who came to Central Park to get a look at the bus and also browse and shop at the farmer’s market. People were allowed to get on the bus and look around. There were two C-SPAN associated inside greeting people.
Jessica Lindquist of C-SPAN told NorthIowaToday.com that the bus was making its was from Indianapolis through Illinois and into Iowa, where it had been to Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and then Mason City today. They were set to roll up to the Twin Cities next.
“We’re here to inform the public about C-SPAN, who we are and how you can use us as a resource,” Jessica said. “Mediacom did a great job of helping us plan some local stops. We are very excited to be here. We’re making our way to Minneapolis next.”
C-SPAN offers non-partisan, unedited coverage of hearings and speeches in Washington and other places.
Meanwhile, the farmer’s market was bustling with plenty of stands and goods for sale. A food vendor was on hand and live music was playing. A group of folks were working out nearby in the middle of the park.
