AMES – The Ames Police Department’s Safe Neighborhoods Team conducted compliance checks of local licensed liquor establishments on August 27, 2014. Twenty-nine businesses consisting of bars, alcohol retail establishments, and restaurants were checked. Three businesses sold alcohol to an underage person. The employees were cited for selling alcohol to an underage person under Iowa Code Section 123.49(2)(H). The total fine including the surcharge and court costs for this violation is $735. The individuals cited for this violation are listed below.
• Taylor Wherry, age 24, at Five and Dime, 115 5th Street
• Rodney Hibbs, age 52, at Take it Easy Lounge, 129 Lincoln Way
• Jeffrey Weig, age 39, at Blue Owl, 223 Welch Avenue
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
