Clear Lake man in jail for violating probation in drunk driving deferred judgement

MASON CITY – A young man is in jail after failing to live up to the terms of a deferred judgement in connection to his first drunk driving offense.

Deputies with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Levi Dean Trusty of Clear Lake on a warrant Thursday. Trusty was wanted on a probation violation report filed by the Iowa Department of Corrections. Trusty had been arrested earlier in March by Clear Lake police for drunk driving and was later given a deferred judgement along with a year of probation and fines and court fees totaling $1,573.00. He has thus far failed to make a single payment on that balance, records show, helping lead to the probation violation.

Trusty remains jailed in Mason City, awaiting a September 15, 2014 court date.
