WINTHROP — An elderly motorcyclist was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after striking a deer on a rural Buchanan County roadway southeast of Winthrop.

The crash happened at approximately 1:55 p.m. on April 23, 2024, in the 2500 block of Buffalo Creek Boulevard.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, 89-year-old William Vosdingh of Coggon was traveling north on a 2014 BMW motorcycle when a deer ran into the roadway.

Vosdingh struck the animal and was thrown from the motorcycle by the force of the impact.
