MASON CITY – Law enforcement was called to an adult novelty and video store late Thursday after a report of a man trying to steal merchandise.
Cerro Gordo deputies went to Pure Pleasure, 10480 265th Street in rural Mason City, after employees reported an attempted theft. Deptuies arrived, and after an investigation, placed a Mason City man under arrest.
Jay Barrientes, age 47, was arrested on a charge of fifth degree theft for shoplifting two items valued at a total of $2.99, Sheriff Kevin Pals told NIT. Barrientes was jailed and later released pending a court date.
