MC woman nabbed at work for skipping court

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman who snubbed her court date seemed to think she could simply go to work and serve tacos like there was no issue, until a Cerro Gordo county deputy showed up and took her to jail.

Amber Elizabeth Demaris, age 22, was due in court Tuesday morning for a plea hearing connected to driving with a revoked license after a drunk driving conviction. She failed to show up, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Deputies went to her place of employment at Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant at 3229 4th Street SW at 5:19 PM and took her into custody, and then to the jail.

Demaris is being held on $1,000 cash-only bond as she awaits a new court date.

We eat at Las Palmas all the time, but, if they have people like this working there I think we will stop going there.

Just the fact that she serves tacos puts her one above the rest!
