Cops make no arrest in fight at North End convenience store

MASON CITY – Two males were apparently fighting early Wednesday morning at a North End convenience store, but police weren’t able to make an arrest in the case yet.

According to police, minutes before 4:00 AM, an emergency call was made, indicating that a male had been assaulted on the 1200 block of North Federal. The caller said that the alleged victim was breathing but unresponsive. The caller told police that two subjects had been quarreling near 13th Street and North Federal and one of them was lying on the ground and somewhat unresponsive.

At the scene, three squad cards were at Kum and Go, 1224 North Federal, getting a statement from a young male, that appeared to have a black eye, and trying to make a call on his cell phone. The subject at the scene was not cooperative with police and did not wish to pursue the matter further. The other subject had left prior to arrival of officers.

No arrests have been made at this time. The male victim refused medical treatment.
